I did not leave a star value for food as I have never eaten there. I go to patronize the elixirs and potions that they serve during appropriate drinking hours, and to listen to the great talent and music that they offer. Some of my favorite local talent come to play at this establishment, so you best believe when I can i show up to show support. @kineticsounds_ is the group of talented promoters and djs. Find them on instagram and even you can slay the decks @dragon_upstairs. The venue is very cozy, smaller dance floors and bar, yet to dance and hit the bathroom then back to dance u dont gotta go far. 😅🤭😜

Love, love, love dragon 🐉 where dive bar meets a smaller hole-in-the-wall music venue. It’s tucked away upstairs, intimate location upstairs is an ideal hideaway if you want more anonymity. I’m so grateful to Jake for taking over that location. He’s a 🦄 gem 💎 and the staff are friendly, inclusive 🏳️‍🌈, and welcoming who actually care 💜 and go over and beyond for the comfort and safety of their guests ☺️. It’s def the place to be for live 🎶 Music, Open Mic 🎤 and killer DJ’s ⏺️🎧⏺️. They also offer Karaoke 🎙️on demand most nights with a fair rotation, and without the ‘ego host’ 👑taking up half night to hear himself sing. 🥱💤 There’s no food 🥘 service here, but if there was I’m sure it would be great. The bar 🍹menu is priced perfect 🤑 as a locals neighborhood Best of all, It’s gotta chill vibe and no weird drama unlike some other places I know in Chinatown 😳. It feels more like community with a diverse crowd and good energy ☮️✌️.. Highly Recommend 🎤🍻🍺🎶🍸🔊👍👍

I recently visited Dragon Upstairs in Honolulu’s Chinatown district, located above the street along Nuuanu Avenue in one of the city’s most active nightlife corridors. Chinatown has become a hub for music venues, cocktail bars, and late-night entertainment, and Dragon Upstairs stands out as one of the neighborhood’s more distinctive underground clubs. The atmosphere is energetic and slightly gritty in a way that feels intentional. The venue has the character of an old-school nightlife space, with dim lighting, a dance floor, and music that drives the energy of the room. Because it is located upstairs and somewhat hidden from the street, the club carries a sense of discovery that adds to the experience. Music and live performances are the heart of the venue. DJs and occasional live acts create a constantly shifting soundtrack that ranges from electronic and dance music to other genres depending on the night. The dance floor tends to fill quickly, especially on weekends, giving the club a lively and immersive atmosphere. The bar serves a straightforward lineup of drinks designed to keep the energy moving rather than slow the pace of the night. The focus remains on the music, dancing, and social environment rather than an elaborate cocktail program. Service during the visit felt efficient given the fast-paced nightlife setting. Staff kept the bar moving while maintaining a friendly and approachable attitude. From a global travel perspective, Dragon Upstairs reminded me of underground clubs I have encountered in cities like Berlin, Tokyo, and Los Angeles where music culture and nightlife creativity define the experience.

Solid atmosphere and vibes. Great karaoke and Mai Tais. Mia and Jake are phenomenal! A spot where they make everyone feel like a local!

This place has a vibrant atmosphere. The wall decor is bold and interesting. The staff is very friendly and polite. At night they have live music performed by local artists. However, they should work on their accoustics as it gets very loud an indistinguishable at some point. So be prepared for that.
