I really appreciated the freshness of the food, but overall it lacked seasoning. The calamari batter seemed to be missing even basic salt, and while the fried snapper had a beautifully crispy crust, it was missing the flavor needed to make it stand out. Unfortunately, the service is where the experience really fell short. After leaving the market area to be seated, we approached the host stand and waited while the hostess stood with her back to us, engaged in conversation with another employee. The other employee noticed us waiting but continued the conversation, so we eventually took our menus and seated ourselves. The food arrived quickly, which we appreciated. However, when it came time to get our check and to-go boxes, we waited quite a while without assistance. Eventually, my boyfriend had to get up and go inside himself to request boxes and pay the bill. We completely understand that restaurants can get busy and that staff can occasionally become overwhelmed. However, that didn't appear to be the situation during our visit, which made the lack of attentiveness even more noticeable.
What an interesting little spot. First, it's a seafood market with an incredibly fine selection of regular and hard to find seafood which is beautifully displayed and they sell some other items to go with the seafood so you can create a meal. Second, they do a huge take-out business. Third, they have added restaurant services to the venue. They enclosed a section with a run of booths and tables and they have outdoor seating. The night we were there they had live music. We opted to eat inside but it's very cold and we wished we had dined al fresco. We had an interesting booth for two with the bench on one side and it worked for us since we share our meals. We went for the stone crabs which came in medium, large and jumbo by the pound. We got one pound of medium claws which was six well sized claws - very fresh and the meat was excellent. We don't usually like coleslaw but their's is delicious. The claws came with a mustard dip that was very good. For dinner we had the Aioli cod - very flaky, moist and cooked very well. We were surprised by the FRESH vegetables. We ordered fries since they don't have a regular baked potatoe and those were a miss for us. Next time we will try some of the other fish offerings and maybe try the twice baked potato or rice!
First time here as we live about 40 minutes away. Very happy we came. Extremely clean, immediately greeted at the door and sat down with menus. Server Anna was friendly and efficient. Food was very reasonably priced and was fresh and of high-quality.The iced tea is fresh brewed here and is Lausanne… strong and delicious. The fried clam strips were lightly breaded and not chewy, the coleslaw was homemade and not sweet, the shrimp gumbo soup was fresh and a bowl is a very generous serving. Finally, the broiled grouper (with 2-sides) platter was fantastic. We stopped in here because we were in the area for something else, but in the future, we will make the dedicated drive just to come back here. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I discovered Cod & Capers Seafood Marketplace and Café back in October last year, and loved it ever since our very first visit. The quality here is outstanding—truly some of the best seafood around. Their stone crabs are absolutely top-tier and a must-try. A special shoutout to Larry, who has been our server—he’s an exceptional guy. Friendly, attentive, and always makes the experience even better. Also, don’t forget to stop by their seafood market while you’re there. It’s totally worth it and adds to the whole experience. Highly recommend
First off, a huge shoutout to Chef Herbert….thank you for the incredible hospitality! Cod & Capers is an absolute gem in Palm Beach. The fish is unbelievably fresh, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming. The best part? You can walk right into the fish market, pick out your fresh catch, and they’ll prepare it for you on the spot. It doesn’t get any fresher than that! I enjoyed it so much, I visited twice during my stay in Palm Beach. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a top-notch seafood experience.
