(There is a huge difference between Urgent Care and a Free-Standing Emergency Room. Businesses should be far more upfront about this.) I came to HCA on a Sunday evening in order to get an eye infection checked out. Wait times were extremely long, and I believe I sat there for about 2 hours to only get looked at by a doctor for a a few minutes. I was also required to do quite a bit of paperwork with a remote representative via video call. The final price for my check-up and eye drop prescription was $300. (Update: I was mailed the final check a few weeks later, with an out-standing balance of $1100, for $1400 total. I realize now that this location is not Urgent Care, but a Free-Standing Emergency Room, which accounts for the exorbitant prices. It is quite misleading, as when you search up “Urgent Care,” this is one of the first locations that pop up. I wasn’t aware they were two separate types of business, and I’d imagine most folks don’t know either. In the state I come from Free-Standing ERs aren’t even legal. I have been reading about how registrars at free-standing emergency rooms are expected to refer folks in non-medical emergencies to Urgent Care so that they can get the care they need for more reasonable prices. I do not understand why the folks at HCA did not tell me this.) Following this, I was informed by my pharmacy that my medicine required prior authorization. I then proceeded to call the clinic a total of three times in order to get more clarity on what to do. The first two clinic staff members were unhelpful, telling me that my doctor was not in office today and that I just needed to contact my insurance company. The insurance company, however, then informed me that the clinic had not provided them with the required documentation for my medication yet. When I finally called the clinic a third time, a representative informed me that since they are an “emergency room,” they do not “do prior authorizations” and that I am to call my insurance again and request a supervisor to help me bypass this requirement. This is was the first time anyone told me this. Not wanting to deal with another round of back-and-forth calls and the unreliability of insurance companies, I decided to pay out of pocket so I could get my medication before my infection got worse. If you are not experiencing a medical emergency, I strongly recommend visiting a different walk-in clinic and confirming with staff that it is indeed Urgent Care (NOT an emergency room!) or finding a regular physician or specialist.
I usually come here during the day and the staff is usually nice and quick. I happened to come today, 3/26 at 2 in the morning for constipation. The nurse on shift treated me like a burden and it felt like she didn't want to help. I told her everything I tried for the day to help me out but nothing was working. The entire time she had an attitude and gave me short answers. The doctor wasn't any better. Dr. Joseph came in and asked me questions. I do have prior issues with constipation and he asked so why do you feel like its any different today when you were able to go yesterday morning. Which is what i was trying to explain that i was really nauseous because I wasn't defecating properly. The entire time the doctor had this "why are you even here" demeanor. So i felt like no one was taking me seriously. I wanted my wife in the room the entire time because of how I was being treated. So when the doctor mentioned a rectal exam I asked can my wife be present to which he responded yeah. The nurse came back in to give me a gown told me to underdress and at this point I said where's my wife to which i was ignored and she just left. I called my wife, as we're on the phone they finally bring her in there and I ended up leaving and sought help elsewhere. I wasn't comfortable being treated by these two individuals that weren't taking my concerns seriously, all I wanted was to feel a bit better and they made me feel worse. It's clear they chose their career for their salary and not to genuinely help people.
Kane was AMAZING from start to finish! Dr Jasmine was awesome and straight to the point! :/ Front desk was my only issue I had to use the bathroom sooooooo bad and I understood the policy bt geez Louise I wasn't kidding about it or checking my daughter in!!!!!! Luckily the clinical staff came through in the back for a 5 star review :) Thank you guys so much
This place is fantastic, i wish i had skipped urgent care and went straight to HCA ER. I came in experiencing the worst pain i've ever felt in my face, Dr. Souman quickly ordered me CT scanning and discovered a severe infection in my sinus cavity that had broken through my jaw. I was able to get into an ENT the next day (as Dr. Souman recommended) who reported my infection was almost septic and provided me immediate help. Thank you so much to the staff here for always double checking with scans, the CT saved my life!
