We just recently adopted a new furkiddo into our home and were looking for a new vet home--I am so glad that I did my research! From speaking with Courtney to make the appointment to all the sweet techs we met and then our patient & thorough visit with Dr. Calhoun, this was a wonderful experience for our 1st visit! Everything was thoroughly explained, we know what to expect for the next few months and directed us to the most cost-effective options that still give us the best care. Having your vet within walking distance is an amazing perk, when it is Dr. Calhoun, Courtney, and crew--icing on the cake! Thank, y'all so much! :)
Our family has been using NCVH for years and their quality of care has always been exceptional. The entire staff is knowledgeable, patient, and consistently takes the time to explain every treatment option—laying out the pros and cons with care and clarity. That said, a five star rating doesn’t really do justice to just how incredible this team is. Over the last year our dog became very sick, and our experience with NCVH in navigating his condition has been truly astounding. Dr. Calhoun saved our dog’s life by swiftly diagnosing his extremely rare autoimmune disorder, and Dr. Whitaker saved it again after our dog got aspiration pneumonia due to a complication from his condition. What sets them apart is something that is demonstrated by the entire team at NCVH, from the front desk to the vet techs to the doctors themselves, and that is their incredible kindness. From hearing our dog’s name cheered when he gets taken back for an exam, to the compassion they’ve shown us during some of the hardest moments, the amount of love we have felt from this organization has meant the world to us. So yes, five stars. Definitely the best vet practice in North Carrollton, maybe the world.
My boyfriend and I take both our dogs here and they are always outstanding from the front staff to the techs to the Doctors, I would drive a distance to continue coming here if moved from Carrollton. Sadly we were losing Jolene and it was the end of the day they were closing soon and they still said come and bring her, they were wonderful and very comforting during our time of loss. Thank you very much to you all at North Carrollton Vet! Michelle Roten/Gonzalez My best friend and my 2nd child we miss her everyday, I have my 3rd child with Teddy Bear🐾💙Thank you very much to Dr. B for everything thing as well she was very kind and supportive while we going through these tough decisions and times with our Jolene. Thank you for the response as well!
North Carrollton Veterinary Hospital came recommended to me by one of my neighbors when we moved to the area three years ago. We've been taking our (now 15 year old) dog to them ever since, and our (now 4 year old) other dog since we adopted him last year. This clinic provides very good service. Appointments are easy to make. The facility is clean with somebody always on duty and room in the parking area (although not much on a busy day). They do all the standard veterinary care services you would expect, plus basic care items like teeth cleaning and nail clipping. Because our first dog is particularly old, they make a point of having us seen by a doctor and not a technician, at least for some visits. My only con I would voice is their level of communication. I've called and left voice messages to receive no call back. Also, on more than one occasion I've seen something on my bill that either I wasn't expecting or that was higher than I had expected. I now am in the practice of repeat calling them (not relying on a vm being returned) and asking the price of every single activity before authorizing it (which itself is frustrating and time consuming because typically the person doesn't know and needs to go back and check, and it makes me feel like a problem customer). Neither a pro nor a con, but I personally don't like that MOST of the appointment is done behind closed doors where the owner isn't present. The vet comes into the exam room and talks with you, but then heads into the back with your dog to DO all of the actual treatment, where you aren't present or able to observe. I get that this is probably most efficient for the business, so don't fault them for it, but it makes for a lesser experience for me as the dog owner. I will continue to take my dogs to them for the foreseeable future.
Dr. Whitaker quickly identified my dog’s issue and gave a clear, realistic treatment plan without unnecessary tests. They explained everything thoroughly and helped me understand what to monitor. My dog is showing some improvement, and I appreciate that they even called the next day to check on her; truly caring and professional.
