I had an excellent experience with Johnson’s AC! Their technician arrived on time, was very professional, and thoroughly inspected and serviced my AC unit. They explained everything clearly and even gave me tips to keep my system running efficiently. My AC is now working better than ever! I highly recommend them for anyone needing reliable and professional AC maintenance.
We own a condo in Naples Florida and have been using Johnson’s Air Conditioning for the last seven years for annual maintenance. During the last six months we’ve had issues with Freon leakage and have had them recharge it at over $600 a visit. We understood that the air conditioning unit needed to be replaced and Brian quoted us over $8700. We then decided to contact other companies to get estimates. The estimates were $5500 and $6900 for the exact model. Both well below Johnson’s Air Conditioning. We have been good customers for the last seven years and are disgusted that they would try to overcharge us by well over $2000. Needless to say we will not be using their services ever again. The company that did the installation told us that their annual maintenance charges would be $80. For the last five years we’ve been paying over $200 to Johnson‘s for maintenance. Make sure you get estimates before you get any air-conditioning work done. Lesson learned.
On April 3,2024 had my ac not cooling properly. I had Johnson come out and they said it was the coil leaking. I had them install 1lb of freon and they charged me $322.44 for the pound. I checked with Cool Zone and they charge $100 for 1 lb,and also checked with Brett and AC and they charge $136 for 1lb. I checked online and you can buy it for 10lbs for $329 or 30 lbs for $799 or $27 per pound. I got ripped off ! I called Johnson and they would not do anything. Consequently they had quoted a new system and I went with Cool Zone instead . Also Johnson had quoted a 3 ton system and I had a 4 ton existing in the condo so were trying to rip me off with this also. Cool Zone quoted the 4 ton from the start and I did not have to say anything to them. Do not use this co!!
I have used Johnsons for 22 years in Naples and always great great service from phone, regular maintenance and to new install !
For several years, Johnson's provided maintenance on our air conditioning units. They did a very good job. However, when one A/C system went bad, they advised that they would provide a quote to replace all three systems. Their quote was for $23,941.00. However, in the meantime they recommended that they replace the freon in the defective system so it would continue to operate. I asked how long the freon would last. They advised it would last about "a couple of weeks" I agreed with their recommendation to add freon. I thought their system replacement quote seemed high. I was referred to Expert Air who does a significant amount of work in our 535 resident community. Their quote was for $13,885.00. At that point I thought I was being taken advantage of in regards to the $581 freon charge that I subsequently received an invoice for.... plus labor and the service call. I contacted the owner of Johnson's Rick Sims on multiple occasions and requested an adjustment for the freon charge. I told him I thought the charge was excessive for a repair that would last "a couple of weeks". I offered to split the cost of the invoice. I mailed them a check for one half. The owner would have nothing to do with resolving the issue. The customer was wrong and he wanted full payment. I told him that I do not know anything about A/C repairs and I thought his charge was excessive for a repair that would last for such a short time. The reason I felt this way was a result of the large variance in his system replacement quote of $23,941.00 versus the other system replacement quote I received. He went on to degrade Expert Air and said they "installed an illegal system because they did not pull a permit from Collier County". That was not true. They are a long standing reputable contractor, they pulled a permit and the new systems would inspected by Collier County. The Owner decided to go to Small Claims Court for the balance of his excessive freon charges. I lost as the Court indicated I should have asked for a quote up front. My mistake. I have paid Johnson's their balance due. The bottom line in dealing with Johnson's: they do capable work, but get a quote up front and compare to other A/C contractor quotes.
