The staff and technicians at Freedom Solar Energy are outstanding! From purchase to install and final hook up, everyone along the way has been helpful and communicative. We couldn't be happier with our solar system and battery back up. I highly recommend them if you are looking at installing solar. Our home is now 100% powered by solar!

On 08/20/2021, I purchased a SunPower Solar system from Justin Vaughan. Justin is the owner of Freedom Solar Energy. Justin was also a licensed SunPower vender and SunPower installer. My house was still under construction when Justin and I entered into our agreement. I explicitly told Justin there was no way he could accurately size my solar system without at least 6 months of a Teco bill. I told Justin I wanted my solar system to cover my entire light bill up to the 110% allowed. Justin assured me that he would use the appropriate wiring so that I could add panels in the future. Justin also told me that if I needed additional panels in the future, he would give me a fair price to add these panels. On 08/18/2022, I purchased a SunPower 26KW Battery Backup from Justin and he also installed this Battery. On 08/5/2024, SunPower filed for bankruptcy, and we SunPower customers were left with only our installers as support. Over the years, I have had multiple issues with my SunPower system. In all fairness Justin's company responded and made repairs without any issues. On 11/14/2025, I received an e-mail from Freedom Solar Energy advising they were dropping all their SunPower customers because SunPower was out of business. I have Maxeon X-Series Solar Panels and Enphase micro-inverters. Both products carry a 25-year warranty. According to Maxeon and Enphase, SunPower customers are still under their warranty regardless of SunPower being out of business. I was told by both Maxeon and Enphase representatives if I had any issues, my installer would be the person to do the warranty work. On 11/14/2025, I attempted to contact Justin multiple times for clarification regarding the e-mail his company sent to me. Justin ignored my attempts to contact him. On 11/18/2025, I called Freedom Solar's business phone number, and I was greeted by his wife Kasie Vaughan. What started out as a simple phone call escalated when his wife raised her voice and started speaking to me rudely. Kasie told me that Freedom Solar Energy would not be servicing or doing any type of warranty work on those customers that have SunPower Systems. I told her that after speaking with two different attorneys, Freedom Solar is still liable for any warranty work involving the solar system that Justin installed. She continued yelling and saying Freedom Solar Energy was not liable because they discharged my account then she ended the call abruptly. I find both Justin and Kasie Vaughan's behavior to be very unprofessional and concerning especially after I spent a significant amount of money with his company when in all reality Justin sold me this undersized system when he knew there were other less expensive systems available. Yet now he is refusing to provide service. Justin and I have spoken numerous times about my solar systems under production. My solar system wasn't sized correctly. Justin told me the cost to add panels is higher than normal because he would have to run a larger gauge wire. I asked Justin how this could be when he should have used the larger gauge wire from the very beginning like he said that he would. Justin cut corners and ran a smaller gauge wire and because of this, he told me that new wire would have to be pulled. I questioned Justin as to our previous agreement and he made excuses about what he failed to do. Justin has refused to make this right, I have reached out to other certified solar installers. Every one of these installers stated they would have run a larger gauge wire from the beginning so that I could add panels in the future. I would have gladly paid Justin to run the larger wire. However, I trusted that Justin would do the right thing. I could have gone with any solar company. But I saw Justin as a young man trying to make a living to take care of his family. I really thought Justin was a decent person. According to other reputable solar installers, I am not the first customer to have had issues with Justin. If you choose to do business with him do so at your own risk.

I was met by sales rep with Freedom Solar Energy by Sunpower Hersell Hudson. I informed him many solar companies have been in contact with me about installing solar on my residence. For some reason, Hersell caught my attention. His professionalism & knowledgeable about solar allowed me to open up about solar to him. From day 1 Hersell has been a phenomenal sales rep. He is very knowledgeable about the product. He answered all my questions & also stop my worrying about it. I had my second guess about solar but Hersell cleared all my concerns. He informed me about the payments & how the solar worked & was able to show me how much usage i use on electricity right on his tablet & a recent Teco bill. Hersell’s energy alone struck me to allow him to enter my residence. I further informed Hersell i was considering going with a different solar company, but needless to say, Hersell sold me! Soon as Hersell was compete with my set up he informed Sunpower would be in contact with me to set up the install, which they did the next day. The install by Sunpower was fast. Although, my solar has not been activated yet, as the county just approved it, i cannot wait to officially be a solar powered home! All thanks to Mr. Hersell Hudson. I highly recommend Freedom Solar by Sunpower & ask for Hersell Hudson as your sales rep! Great job Hersell. Your desire to provide quality service does not go unnoticed & I couldnt be more happy to say I chose Sunpower! Not only aa solar powered home now but the solar panels are TOP NOTCH & makes me residence looks even more better!! Also I must add Hersell did an amazing video on the top of my roof showcasing it on his FB page.

Justin did a great job designing and installing a solar system on my home. Communication was frequent, open, candid, and transparent throughout the whole process. Pricing was fair/reasonable, and the workmanship quality was great. Overall excellent experience dealing with Justin. Highly recommended.

I can't be happier with my choice to use Freedom Solar Energy for my home Solar system. Justin, the owner is a pure perfectionist in every sense of the word. The system works great and I'm now saving money while also being more energy independent. Next, I need to get an electric car so I can charge it for free from my own power source.
