Stopped in here for being highly rated for not only cakes but more specifically carrot cake. The staff was friendly and there’s tons of baked goods all around the small space. Your head almost spins trying to see everything. Thankfully I was there for one thing. I ordered the slice of carrot cake which was pre cut. Which I typically try to avoid but they said that’s what they had. We chatted briefly about extremely sweet icing and cake preferences before paying and leaving. The cake itself almost had zero sweetness to it which made the icing taste extremely sweet and unbalanced between to two. Even by itself the icing was very sweet. The cake , probably because it was precut and sitting for who knows how long, wasn’t very moist. While not unbearably dry it was pushing the line of being too dry. I think a fresh cut slice would be way better moisture wise, but still unbalanced sweetness. I’d like to see what else the city a has to offer cake wise but I wouldn’t call this one particularly great. I’d call this 2.5/5 but can’t give half star reviews. The cake being the main reason for the visit and being kind of dry and unbalanced impacts the whole experience

Bakery Off Augusta did an amazing job with our wedding cake! It was absolutely beautiful and tasted even better. So many of our guests came up to us asking where we got it from — everyone loved it. The team was so easy to work with and delivered exactly what we hoped for. Highly recommend them for any special occasion or just when you are looking for something sweet!

I spoke with Lee most recently while trying to order a cake for a friend’s 40th birthday. I’ve been a loyal customer of Bakery off Augusta Street for 12 years, since my daughter was born. While the bakers have changed, the biggest shift I’ve noticed is the complete loss of creativity. In the past, I could send inspiration photos and have a quick 2–3 minute conversation to bounce ideas around and figure out how to get close to a design. It was collaborative and helpful. This time, I spoke with Lee twice and was met with repeated “no” responses, with no alternatives offered. I had to push just to get a reluctant half-option. Five years ago, I worked with a baker (a shorter, bald gentleman) who was genuinely excited to create a unique Marie Antoinette cake. He even suggested raspberry filling to create a “blood” effect—I didn’t have to come in knowing every detail or option. That level of creativity and guidance is gone. Now, I was told flatly they don’t do fondant, don’t do modeling chocolate, and that I would need to provide anything that adds creative flair to the cake. When Lee asked what kind of cake and filling I wanted, I simply asked what their most popular options were. My previous cakes had all been simple children’s cakes, so I was excited to try something different for this occasion. Her response was, “Ma’am, we have 90 cake options, I can’t go through them all,” which was honestly surprising. I awkwardly suggested funfetti. When asked about filling, I again asked for popular options and was told, again, that there were too many to cover. She named a few (lemon, raspberry, strawberry), and I ended up saying buttercream because it felt like I was inconveniencing her by asking for guidance. After all of that, she added, “I’ll have to run this by the baker and see if she even has time to do this cake—she has a lot of wedding cakes this month.” That would have been helpful to lead with. At that point, after receiving no help, no customer service, and no professional input—and still not knowing if the cake could even be done—I told her I would look elsewhere, as it didn’t sound like they could get close to my inspiration at all. Because I’ve genuinely loved BOA in the past, I gave it another try the next day with a much simpler design. I spoke with Lee again and was immediately told, “Unfortunately no, we can’t do that.” I responded, “You’ve said ‘no’ to everything—are there any options you can provide so we can get close to something you’re able to do? These are just inspiration photos.” She replied, “Yeah, we don’t do that. We don’t do the gold flake on this cake.” I asked if they could use luster dust or any alternative, and she finally said they could “get it close,” but I would have to provide things like the Louis Vuitton print myself. The entire experience felt closed off, dismissive, and uninterested in helping. I can’t understand the shift from creative collaboration to a place that seems completely disinterested in even discussing options. After 12 years of recommending Bakery off Augusta, this is incredibly disappointing. They’ve lost a loyal customer, and I’ll be honest with others about how much things have changed. If you’re looking for creativity or guidance, unfortunately, it’s not there anymore.

I’m so grateful for this bakery! I called on Friday morning in a pinch for my daughter’s birthday dessert request for her Saturday afternoon party, and they delivered! One of the few bakeries in the area to offer cake pops and they were SO good. Their mini cupcakes were so lights and fluffy too! The icing wasn’t overly sweet and sugary which made them a huge hit! We will definitely use them again! Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen for my girl! ❤️

First time at this cozy bakery today! I was welcomed with a smile and a beautiful lady! The place is like a warm cup of cocoa with extra marshmallows! Everyone from the owner to one of the bakers was so extremely kind. I was given a mini taste test of cookies and a gooey bar! The experience was filled with love, care and pride!! This hidden gem needs more exposure and I hope my video and rating will help with that. This is where you want to order all of your baking needs! You will not be disappointed!!! I'm an official foodie and I approve The Bakery Off Augusta!!! You now have a lifetime customer!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰💙💙💙💙😍😍😍😍
